Penrith Performing & Visual Arts is looking for an exceptional leader to join its team.
The Director, Theatre, based at the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre in Penrith leads a small team of specialist staff and works closely with peers in marketing, operations, visual arts and music, based remotely or at The Joan and Penrith Regional Gallery to deliver the Q Theatre program covering education (Studio Q), artist development and commissioning/new work programs as well as a season of programmed works across demographic segments annually.
The successful candidate will be a people person with established artistic and creative industry networks, an ability to support the team, and a burning desire to grow audiences locally for Australian theatre; extending current plans and programs in line with the PP&VA strategic vision to be a dynamic force in the creative evolution of the Penrith region.
If you have a solid grasp of programming and audience development, an understanding of artistic processes, and the skills to support and commission contemporary theatre, this may be for you. You will need a desire to make a difference in a rapidly changing environment and be driven by outcomes and community impact rather than dollars.
This is a full-time position with occasional evenings and weekends as required by the program. Salary package on a three-year performance-based contract of approximately $109,000/annum incl. super
